'A beautiful and brave girl,' says Marta's nurse

Marta in hospital

We were delighted to receive this message from cardiothoracic nurse Lani May Nankervis, one of the team who cared for our patient Marta when she had her valve repair surgery last November. Dr Noel and our team work hard to identify patients and bring them to Australia for treatment but our work is nothing without the skill and dedication of the nursing and medical staff of our health patners, including Royal Melbourne Hospital.

"Hey ETHF! Ive just been notified of your Facebook page and am really humbled. I am a cardiothoracic nurse at the Royal Melbourne Hospital and was one of Marta's primary carers. I'm really touched to see all of the posts of this brave and beautiful girl. She is one patient I will always remember and cherish memories of this gorgeous face. I would like to extend my sincerest thoughts and congratulations to all of you involved in your wonderful efforts to make this fundraising the amazing cause that it is. I spoke with Dr Noel a couple of times on the phone and think what each of you do is truly special. May good karma come to all those involved. Bless!"

Dr Noel will see check up on Marta when he conducts clinics in Dili next month, so please keep an eye on our Facebook page and ths blog for further updates. And if you would like to support heart treatment for patients like Marta, you can make a one-off or regular donation via our secure online fundraising page http://www.givenow.com.au/easttimorhearts
