East Timor Hearts Fund is thrilled to welcome its latest major partner, Barwon Health, one of the largest and most comprehensive regional health services in Australia.
Board Chair Ingrid Svendsen and CEO Ken Dusting today signed a Memorandum of Understanding with their counterparts at Barwon Health, Dr John Stekelenburg and Paul Cohen. The agreement will see six patients a year, or roughly one in three of the patients assisted by East Timor Hearts Fund, receive operations at Barwon Health’s University Hospital Geelong, in regional Victoria.
The new partnership will make a significant difference to the work of East Timor Hearts Fund, underpinning our aim to double to up to 20 the number of patients offered treatment in Australia each year.
The first two patients have already been treated by University Hospital Geelong, which has one of the best cardiothoracic units in the state.
We are excited at the opportunity to work with Barwon Health to, quite literally, give life to its values of compassion, innovation and respect.
We extend our sincere thanks to Barwon Health Chief Operating Officer Peter Watson and cardiologist Alan Appelbe for their support in developing the partnership agreement, and also to the management and staff at Barwon Health for their enthusiasm for our cause.
Together we will be stronger as we continue our mission to deliver world-class cardiac care to our neighbours in Timor-Leste.
